about
I sell photos to music artists designing their album covers. I shoot on 35mm film, the same kind of film worthy of capturing Bob Dylan arm-in-arm with Suze Rotolo. If your music is authentic, your vinyl cover should convey that. My goal is to look for intriguing shots without overthinking why; sometimes I'm a silent sniper, and other times it's as though I'm aimlessly dropping reels at a fast-moving cumulonimbus.
In a streaming era with Spotify playlists for just about everything, I have a deep appreciation for albums as single works of art; to understand the detail, you have to look at the whole. I'm piqued by how certain songs don't make the final cut (and why?). Album covers play a role in this, whether it's to throw off the audience, put them on edge, or give a sense of warmth.
Whether you're an established artist or merely aspiring and posting tracks on SoundCloud, feel free to peruse the gallery. If you find something that resonates with your upcoming release, you'll know it before you know why, because let's face it: we judge books by their covers.
Best,
Lebbaeus (Leh-BAY-us) Clarke
